Training
All of our staff are
fully trained. We believe in a firm but fair
approach to security.
Personnel are trained to be diplomatic and
professional at all times when dealing with
customers and staff.
This means that you know our staff will try
to pre-empt a situation, or if a situation
is already in progress will deal with it
quickly with the least amount of disturbance
in-store as possible.
Diplomacy is built into all our on the job
training sessions and we are enjoying a
great deal of success with this approach.
What is I.S. 999:2004?
The PSA (Private Security Authority in
Ireland) has endorsed the NSAI developed
Guarding Security Services Standard
I.S.999:2004 as the required standard for
licensing of contractors in the door
security, security guarding and event
security sectors.
The Private Security Authority announced
their Licensing Programme for the Private
Security Services on 21st July 2005. They
declared that certification to the
I.S.999:2004 standard for Guarding Security
Services is the compulsory standard
requirement for all Guarding companies as
part of their licensing application.
Alert One Security is one of the few
security companies in Ireland to have
achieved the I.S.999:2004 standard and be
recognised as a professional training body
providing I.S.999 qualified security guards.
Advantages of the IS999 certification
include:
- Enabling organisations to demonstrate that
they control all elements of their
operations
- Focusing on continual improvements of
service
- Providing a systematic structure for
planning, implementing and reviewing
security operations
How will the PSA enforce licensing?
The legislation establishing the Private
Security Authority creates a number of
criminal offences for breach of the
legislation. The main offences relate to the
provision and use of unlicensed security
services. The PSA has stated that it is an
offence for a security company or an
employee to operate or work without a
licence. It is also an offence to employ an
unlicensed security company. A person
convicted of such an offence is liable to a
fine or imprisonment for up to 5 years.
